Summary/Reflection of "The Corn Grows Ripe"-Chapters 11-13

From chapters 1 to 13, I think that the book was quite interesting because I never really knew about Chac Chacs or rain gods or the types of gods that they mention in the book. If I could choose a favorite charcter, it would be Tigre because he showed that he could do a man's job, no matter how tough it can be. I would also want to be Tigre because I want to know how it feels like doing a man's job and also his point of view about putting all of the responsibility and trust on him. I would recommend this to to people who think that their chores or the easy jobs they do is too hard for them. 

Summary of "The Corn Grows Ripe"-Chapters 7-9

In chapters 7-9, Tigre and his father decide to burn the milpa. It was a tradition that they did every year. Since Tigre's uncle did not come to help him burn the milpa, Tigre had to burn it all on his own. After burning the milpa, all of Tigre;s clothing, hair, shoes were ruined. In chapter 8, Tigre wanted to join the bull ring. Tigre's father thought it was a bad idea. But, his great grand-mother allowed him to join the bull ring because he was stronger and it is what every men, as a tradition, does every year!

So far in the book, I read that Tigre was having a hard time in doing his father's job, since he is injured. If I was him, I would be worried about what is going to happen to me. But I think that Tigre was strong because even though he says he wants to give up, he never did. He knew about his father's health and about his great grand-mother, pushing him to do everything. But, I think that Tigre tried the best he could do. Later on, when he got used to the work, it became easier for him and he had finished his work! The good news was that another child was born. I think that he is going to teach him the same things when the baby gets older and stronger.

In the book, the Corn Grows Ripe, it had a lot of choice words. There were a lot of new words in the book as well. The book starts off by telling about a boy named Dionisio. Everyone calls him Tigre because he looks like a tiger. He is very lazy. His great-grandmother always scolded him for being so lazy and not doing any work. One day, when Tigre did not come with his father to fell bush, a tree fell on his father and broke his leg.
